Sunflower Summit

Sunflower Summit (she/they) is a Chicago based Latinx queer artist and producer, creating music that hits right in the feels. In addition to music, mental health is very important to Sunflower Summit, and actively destigmatizes mental health discussion and education through their own work as a mental health educator and through the music they write.

Sunflower Summit began her career as an artist with their debut album, Love Notes (2019), a musical diary recorded live with a group of her friends. Kicking it off with a small couch-tour throughout northern Illinois, the album was partially funded with a successful kickstarter campaign.

Following the album, Sunflower Summit learned to produce and record her music from home, and began releasing a slew of singles and eps with other artists. Warmly thought of as the “year of impatient releasing”, 2021 blossomed with many collaborations, including Stay Warm EP (2020) (with Katie Dwyer + Jessie Max), New Year EP (2021) (with poet e. l. dan), Carry Through (2021) (with Jacqueline Loor), Metronome Heart (2021) (with Lace and Grit) and Made It Through (2021) (with LD Maverik).

Getting deeper in the trenches of production, and learning that women make up less than 2% of producers within the music industry, Sunflower Summit set out to make an album completely made remotely with a women led team, including Katie Dwyer, a South Dakota mom of four and badass producer and mixing engineer, and Caridad Espinosa, a production educator based in Ecuador. In This Moment, a collection of songs reflecting the intense feels of living during a pandemic, released in May of 2022.

Continuing down the path of production, Sunflower Summit started working with Songfinch, a company with a mission to capture life’s precious moments through custom songs, and became a verified artist on their roster in the fall of 2022.

Getting to write and produce more frequently with Songfinch led Sunflower Summit to writing, producing, and releasing another album in 2022, When it Snows.

Currently, Sunflower Summit is set to go on their first regional Midwest tour at the end of August, with shows lined up for Des Moines, Omaha, Sioux Falls, Pierre, and Missoula.
